On June 7th Chris, Kendall and I joined my immediate family on a trip to the Florida Keys. I personally had never been to the Keys before and had a wonderful time. I know everyone else did too.
I wish I’d taken photos of Kendall’s first plane ride with my camera. I don’t really feel like loading iphone pics. Sorry. We flew into Ft. Lauderdale, rented cars and then drove 3-4 hours to our resort in Marathon Key.
The Keys is a little different than Florida’s other beaches… they are beautiful but not the most ideal swimming beaches. They are best for water sports like diving and fishing. However, you can’t beat the laid back environment of the keys and the islands make you feel like you’re somewhere in the Caribbean.
We stayed at Tranquility Bay and it was absolutely beautiful! Love this resort!
Our first full day was spent lounging around the resort and exploring the area a little bit.
Trying a Lemon at IHOP These iguanas were all over the resort. Believe it or not this was not the biggest one there! This particular iguana was on our condo porch.
Somebody was not happy about wearing sandals!
On Wednesday Chris and my brother David travelled a few hours away to play a few golf courses and the girls and my dad ventured to Key West. We had a wonderful lunch at the marina and walked to some shops.
Of course we found a toy store!
Tree growing on the old 7 mile bridge. I just had to have a picture of it!
This was one of many trips to Key West during our stay. I think if we go to the Keys again we will try and stay in Key West!
Part 2 coming up!
