Crazy Sleeper & Consignment Sale Finds

Before I forget, I wanted to document how I have been finding my child in her bed at night.

Exhibit A:

The first time this happened my heart dropped! I always check on her before I go to bed and if I wake up in the middle of the night and when I looked in her room I didn’t see her at first. I thought she had got out of the crib or was stolen!

I always try to rearrange her or she does on her own. This can’t be comfortable!

*****

This year I participated in my favorite consignment sale. Tuesday, my friend Tara and I decided to take off work and go to the Consignor pre sale. My friend Sara and baby Jack joined us too.

People… a consignment presale is not for the weak. These women LINE UP two hours prior and you might as well plan on spending two hours waiting to check out. I got there at 10:30 to snag a parking spot. The doors opened at 12 and we did not leave until 4 PM! We were exhausted!

However, I will do it AGAIN in the spring. I found some great deals and got first pick. I only need to add a few more items and then Kendall’s fall/winter wardrobe will be complete.

Kendall looking at all her new clothes! ALL of that was $112!

If you live in the Louisville area you should check out the Little Treasures Consignment sale. You will not be disappointed! And if you live somewhere else you should find a consignment sale in your area.

Every day they post the sales and I have already made more than the $112 I spent on these clothes.

Have you ever consigned at a big sale like this? Do you buy secondhand?

DIY No Sew Fabric Bow Holder Tutorial

Kendall’s bow collection is a mess these days! My current bow holder is too small and most of her bows are still in plastic bags from our move.

DSC_0262

I have the perfect bow holder pictured in my crazy brain and have been unable to find it anywhere. So I decided to whip one up with materials I already had. Resourceful, eh?

So here is my little tutorial.

Items needs for this project….

1 piece of thick poster board, canvas, cork board… whatever you’d like to use and whatever size you desire

1 piece of fabric to cover board

something to measure

Lots of ribbon – I used two different kinds

1 glue gun

and a toddler and furry cockapoo ;) … to keep you company of course

and BOWS… lots of BOWS

I used this thick cardboard left over from Kendall’s 12 month photo display at her birthday party. Don’t you love those little feet that found their way on the board?DSC_0253

I was going to mix all three fabrics together but decided to keep it simple.DSC_0255

Trim your fabric to a length/width where it will wrap to the back of your board on all sides.

DSC_0256

Do the same with your ribbon. I gave myself 2 inches extra length for the ribbon.DSC_0257

Lay the board backwards on the fabric so you can hot glue.DSC_0258

Like so.

This is when the measuring comes in unless you have a good eye. I just wanted my ribbon to be equally far apart.

Hot glue the ribbon on the back of your board.

I didn’t have as much black ribbon left to hang the holder as I would’ve liked. You could mount this board several ways depending on what type of board you use.

Here is my finished bow holder! Ta-da!DSC_0263

Close up.

Clip bows on the ribbon and you’re done! It’s like BOW art now. Love.

Toddler Reading Group

I have always wondered what kind of free children's activities our local library offered for the community. Over the weekend I looked on their website and was surprised to find that they offer a Toddler Reading group on Wednesday mornings.

I had no clue what this group would consist of but I looked forward to taking Kendall all week. All morning I kept telling her we were going to reading group! I even dressed her up a little! :)

photo photo(3)

Of course, in true Shelli fashion I only took a few pictures. I only had my phone and she sat in  my lap most of the time. I sat down on the colorful rug with her so she could feel a part of the group. Kendall was one of the youngest toddlers there and there were a few 4 or 5 year olds.

When we walked in they had nametags for each Child to fill out and attach a string of yarn to and make a necklace.

Today’s class was about COLORS. The lady who led the class (with the kids) sang a welcome song, read books and sang more songs. Then we had a special color activity. Kendall made a caterpillar!

Kendall was also in for a special treat because they forgot to hand out Valentine’s treats last week so she got one today! It was teddy grahams in a heart bag. So sweet!

Days like today make me long to be a stay at home mom. It was such a special time and I look forward to going back for more reading fun.

Giveaways, Nursery Shopping & New Mom Advice

Over the past few weeks I have been the lucky winner of some giveaways!!!!! All of which I have received in the last few days. I won this adorable headband from Lillypie Accessories and these cute iron on transfers from Sticky Bellies!!!!
I can't wait to put this headband on her cute little head and take her growth picture every month with the sticky bellies!!!!
I couldn't resist taking a photo of Wilson yesterday... he's like " Why don't I get anything in the mail?????"
Yesterday after work I finished up my nursery decor shopping. I hit up Hobby Lobby and a few other stores and got (what I think) is all I need to finish my nursery decor ideas. Hopefully over the next few weeks we will get it all decorated and then I can REVEAL Ms. Kendall's finished room!
I have been reading alot of message boards on Babycenter recently about surviving the first few days home with a newborn and I would love to get more advice!!!! Here is some of the advice I liked!!
1. Ban visitors for the first few days at home(except my mom of course)
2. Sleep when the baby sleeps - focus on building routine with baby
3. When visitors come over and ask if you need anything - give them an answer! Take the trash out, unload the dishwasher, pick up a loaf of bread, dinner etc.... people want to help!
4. Realize that you will be in your PJ's most of the time, unshowered, with your breasts out in the open! Ha!
5. Paper plates, plastic silverware and takeout!!!!
Any moms want to add to the list for me???? I love hearing advice from seasoned moms!!!!

Giveaways, Friends and Memorial Weekend Plans

Happy Friday! Clearly I skiped cleaning on Wednesday and Thursday. My bad. I've been a busy girl - will continue next week!! So that means the rest of my home tour will have to wait a few days.
Let's recap what's been going on.... Wednesday I received both of my giveaway winnings!!!

Thank you so much Karen and Jenn for hosting these giveaways!

My review on the chocolate bars will come soon and I'll be sure to share what I end up purchasing at Target with my gift card - I can assure you it will be baby related. :)

Yesterday after work I received a visit from my great friend Jacqueline and her sweet, precious, handsome baby boy Ethan!!! He just loves the camera!!!

I have a busy weekend planned so you won't hear much from me! My family from Georgia is in town for the holiday weekend and my cousin Dalyn is getting married Saturday night. I'll be sure to take plently of pictures!!!!
Happy Memorial Day!!

P.S. I added a recent self taken baby bump photo in the "Our Baby Story" page!!! Check it!
