Living Rooms

Linking up with Kelly's home tour this summer sounded like a fun way to show the rest of the new house off! Today's subject is living rooms! I feel like this post is kind of lazy because I really don't want to tidy up both rooms to take pictures at the moment. I will just plan on updating later.

We have a HUGE formal living room. When my parents lived here we NEVER used this room growing up. It was so many different things, but mostly an office, and never a living room. Ha! Well, we don't sit in here all the time but it fits our big furniture just fine. I could envision building built ins with a fire place on the far blank wall. I feel like that would give it a lot of character.

This picture was taken the morning of Adley's 2nd Birthday!

Since then I have moved the love seat out of the living room and placed it in our "den" off the kitchen. Chris and I disagreed about what this space should be used for. He wanted a table here since it's in the kitchen, plus that's what my parents had here. Womp Womp. Well, originally before the original renovation, this was your basic 1970's wood panelling den and it was closed off. I wanted it to be a space where the girls could hang while I cook or I could listen to my DVR shows while I clean the kitchen or fold laundry.
So here it is...

I have plans to replace the mantle with a barnwood style mantle and get a bigger tv and hide the cords in the wall. Or should I say Chris is going to do that. The decor is what I call Americana Chic. It matches my kitchen style seen here.

Living Room Changes

One of my many favorite features about this house are the floor to ceiling windows in the front. They are amazing! You just don't see this kind of character in homes anymore! My friend gave me these beautiful curtains that match my color scheme and I wanted to use them but I only have 2 panels.

Here were my inspiration photos...

He

Here is how it looks in my living room! It was weird the first few days. I contemplated buying 2 more panels to match, but I really don't want a lot of fabric hanging up over the windows.

Chris hates it! Haha
It's growing on me. I bought one of those sunburst mirrors to put over the tv and in between the windows. So, for now it stays!

Christmas Decor & the girls' Christmas Program

More Black Friday shopping...

Living Room ready for Santa!

My pretties in front of the tree! Not going to lie... Kendall decorated most if it! She did a wonderful job!

My 1st Christmas Mantle
I made that chalkboard. The nativity is from my grandmother and the burlap stocking are new this year from Kirkland's. If you're wondering why there are 5 stockings, it is not because we are pregnant. Ha! It is in case we have another kid and I won't have to buy another set of matching stockings, so for now the 5th is for the dog.

The shoes are courtesy of Chris. smh

New upholstery fabric for my dining room chairs

K playing!

Introducing...

Our Home Theater!
Phase 1 Anyway... we've since built a bar down here too!

The girls had their Christmas Program at school. Kendall's last at this school! :(

Adley was a hoot!

What does it look like when you decide to put your house up for sale?

We purge! And pack! I DE cluttered each and every room in our house so it would show better.

Makes a difference right????

We bought a pressure washer and some sealer and went to town on the patio and porch!

We went to LOWES a lot!

Chris and my dad switched out our 1960 porch columns! Finally!

I think it really opens up the porch and makes it look more spacious! The sealer is beautiful too!DSC_0894

And we ate at Skyline because it’s right next to Staples which is where we printed our flyers!

Snowmaggedon

I haven’t worked in 9 days! 9 DAYS!!!!

We got some snow last weekend and then we had some frigid temps, so school was cancelled all week. And it was amazing! We did not leave the house for 5 days and it was glorious.

Here is a glimpse of what we did…

Days 1 and 2 were a bunch of fun. The snow is pretty and we have enough m&ms to last a few days so we love the snow.

Then it gets old and we get a little stir crazy. We visit across the street and do some home staging. Ha!

I even made Kendall practice writing because she was watching too much TV and missing school all week.

And Friday we HAD to get out of the house! So we did. And we bought a treadmill. Thank you tax refund!IMG_2317  IMG_2326

And this weekend has been fun too!

The girls and I hit up SAMS club solo today and they were so good!

Like our Mommy & Me Frozen scarves? My sister makes them. Message me if you’re interested!

Tomorrow I am prepared to go back to work. I really am over the snow days. I wouldn’t hate having more family time though, they are pretty fabulous!

And to justify being a teacher and getting snow days, I did some teacher work too. Lesson planning, report carding, and some optimistic pinteresting… Ha!
