Valentine’s Day decor and BIG Girl Bed

We had a great weekend at home doing chores, homework and whatever else that needed to be done. The highlight of our Saturday (besides going to Kroger) was decorating Kendall’s room for Valentine’s day. I always hit up the Dollar Tree and the Target $1 spot for holiday themed items. I love the window cling decals they have for each holiday at the Dollar Tree. Kendall loves hanging them up on her window and she will show them to anyone who comes over!

I found these cute little heart garlands at Target.

Kendall put the stickers on and then when picked out a place to hang it in her room. It looks so cute, I might leave it up all spring. :)

I had this bright idea to convert Kendall’s crib into a toddler bed. She was SO EXCITED. Actually, excited may be an understatement. You can tell from this picture she was not going to stay put. She is fascinated with getting on and off her bed.

I purchased a safety rail just in case we need it, but she managed to stay on her bed during her nap and sleep yesterday. We have problems putting Kendall to bed at night because she wants to go in our room. Part of me thinks it’s because she felt confined in her crib. Girlfriend can open her door, so we are going to start putting a baby gate up at night so she can’t wonder the house if she wakes up.

I don’t think I blogged about this, but a few weeks ago I purchased a Twin headboard on clearance from target.com. I am saving that for when we transition Kendall into a big girl room. I think the toddler bed will do just fine for now!

I saw this mirror on Pinterest and knew I had to make it for Kendall.

This project cost me $2 (crepe paper and princess decals… Dollar Tree) because I already had the mirror and glue gun. It was a little time consuming making the crepe rosettes, but I just made some on and off all day Saturday. I LOVE how it turned out and it matches her room perfectly!

Bubble Up Pizza & 24 Days of Christmas 2 and 3

One of the first recipes I ever tried and LOVED via Pinterest  (follow me HERE) was Bubble up Enchiladas. Seriously, this is so easy to put together and quite tasty! It's in our round of trusted family dinners. So when I saw this Bubble Up Pizza recipes I HAD to try it! It did not disappoint! Pinned here and source is here.

Biscuits, cheese, pizza sauce and whatever toppings you like!
Throw it in a casserole dish and bake at 375 for about 20-25 minutes.
Eat.

2nd Day of Christmas
Today we spent a little time practicing gift wrapping.

I have compiled some books, stickers and activities to incorporate into my 24 days of Christmas! Kendall and I wrapped some of them up and I put them in a basket so she could pick one out!

3rd Day of Christmas

I handed her a Christmas book today. Does that count? Honestly, it felt so good outside so we played on her swing set in the backyard and had a snack when we got home.
Don't judge my choice of snack... it was a long day! ;)

And last but not least... Mr. Wilson let me take his picture in front of our Christmas tree. He is getting into the holiday spirit too!

Yogurt Cake

I saw this concept on Pinterest and thought I’d give it a try. I love cake and want it all the time. Cake is the main reason I go to birthday parties and weddings.

All you need is Devil’s Food cake mix, 1 cup of water  and 1 cup of plain greek yogurt. I read that Devil’s food was the best flavor for this…

The batter was strange. I wasn’t sure how it would end up.DSC_1221 End Product:

It’s very moist and yummy. At 180 calories a slice, you can’t go wrong!

Yogurt Melts

I have been waiting to try these yogurt melts I saw on Pinterest. Kendall loves yogurt and ice cream and these were the perfect sweet treat!

So easy! A $0.30 yogurt and a zip lock bag and voila!

DSC_1158

Mine are not as pretty as the one I saw on Pinterest.

Cheeseburger Flatbread Melts via Pinterest

I made these little creations last weekend.

The hubby LOVED them… me not so much. I think it was all the onion flavor. I don’t like meatloaf or sloppy Joe's (un-American, right?) and they kind of resembled those.

I did love the flatbread part! I wonder if I could think of something else to serve on these toasty flatbreads! Yum!

DIY Pinterest Fail

If you’re like me (and thousands of others), you post all kinds of great Do It Yourself (DIY) projects on Pinterest to attempt. I mean how hard can it be to take 100 toilet paper rolls and make a work of art, right?

The walls of our home are sad and bare. I don’t want to pay store prices for wall art (unless I 100% love it of course) so I hit up a Habitat Restore and a vintage thrift shop close to my work during my lunch hour last week.

I found this frame and fell in love. Obviously, I wasn’t crazy about the weird map in the middle, but I loved the unique wood frame around it.

DSC_0917

My mind started working and I thought this piece would work great in our master half bath. It’s a small and boring space. It needs a light and I’d like to find a little shelf to go above the toilet.

DSC_0026

I had plans to paint the entire frame white, paint some grey chevron stripes in the middle and then slap a big white R in the center.

DSC_0918

So I painted a coat yesterday and then Chris sprayed a coat for me last night.

It honestly didn’t look that bad this morning except for a few spots that I felt needed to be retouched.

So during nap time I went outside to spray another coat. BIG MISTAKE. I don’t know what happened but all of a sudden some of the dried paint started cracking.  DSC_0934

I had a feeling this would happen. I took the lazy approach to this problem and it back fired. I’m assuming I should’ve sanded this bad boy down before I attempted to paint. I didn’t want to have to sand all the cracks on the frame. Well the oils of the original stain are not getting a long with the spray paint.

So… here is my project. Ugh.

I’m hoping Chris will come home and work a miracle on this one. I will keep you posted.

Pantry Organization

I don’t have a pantry (sad face) but I do have designated food cabinets. Since my food storage is limited I HATE how little things never seem to have a place.

When I saw this idea on PINTEREST I knew I wanted to do it on one of our laundry closet doors.

I LOVE how it turned out!DSC_0481

Now all of Kendall snacks, popcorn, muffin mix and anything else small and random have a home. Best of all it’s visible! No more digging through containers looking for a taco seasoning mix!

Our Weekend & Yummy Potato Recipe!!!

Friday
I have been looking forward to this semi annual consignment all year and found some great things to add to Kendall’s spring/summer wardrobe. I was a little disappointed in this sale compared to the fall sale but I also went on restock day last time.
DSC_0413
I love this girl’s blog… she seriously has the BEST and EASIEST hairstyle tutorials. I tried her fishtail side ponytail on Saturday. Ha!
 DSC_0420
I thought this picture was so funny. Kendall (rocking some Christmas pjs) was just sitting on the edge of the couch watch Mickey like a big girl. Love her hands on her knees. She wasn’t into me taking a picture so early! Ha!

Sunday we enjoyed hanging around our yard enjoying the beautiful weather.

We even took a few rides around the property on our 4 wheeler. DSC_0429
We rode as a family across the street to my parent’s property!DSC_0430
Kendall loves picking up dandelions in the yard. When we are outside we stop at everyone and pluck it out of the grass.

DIY Chic Fil A Nuggets & Family Pictures

Tonight I decided to try another Pinterest recipe. I originally wanted to try the knock off recipe for Cracker Barrel’s grilled chicken tenderloins but that involved ingredients I didn’t have in stock! So Chic Fil A nuggets!

Here is the recipe I used pinned here. This picture is also from Pinterest.

Pinned Image

These were very easy and so yummy! I felt they lacked seasoning that you find with the real deal but this recipe captures the sweet breading of the originals. We wouldn’t eat at Chic Fil A if we knew all their secrets… so it’s ok!

I received a special delivery in the mail today from Sara Johnson Photography. My lovely and talented friend Sara did the best job with our photos and I’m so happy with how they turned out!

Here are a few of my favorites! Enjoy!

Kendall’s face in some of the photos cracks me up… she is something else! Ha!
