Bridal Shower Love

Today I'm linkingup with Kelly for Show Us Your Life and it's all about Wedding Showers!!!

I was very fortunate and blessed to have had 3 Bridal showers leading up to my wedding! I even got a Bachelorette party too! My Maid of Honor, Aunt & Cousins from my Dad's side and my Mother In Law all hosted beautiful and fun showers for me!

My first shower was hosted by my MOH and a few family members. It was a small gathering at my Grandparents church! I was so excited to participate in my first wedding activity!

My second Bridal Shower was hosted by my Aunt Vicki and cousins, Sara and Leigh. They live in GA so it was held in my parents brand new home!

I didn't take pictures from my 3rd Bridal shower. That was actually the one Chris attended too!

My bachelorette party was a few weeks before our wedding. We stayed in a suite at the Galt House, ate dinner at a hibachi grill and saw the premiere of Sex and the City!!

Of course no Bachelorette party would be complete without something inappropriate! Ha! I can't even post the pictures of the male genitalia cookies that we munched on! Ha!

Show Us Your Life - Favorite Grilling Recipes

Today over at Kelly's Show Us Your Life it's all about Grilling!!!
We LOVE to GRILL!!
Grilling in the summer is the best because there is practically 50% less cleanup involved and who doesn't love that grilled food taste?
We grill everything (steaks, chicken, hotdogs, hamburgers, tilapia, veggies) but our favorite things to grill are Pork Chops and Potatoes. Or atleast those are my favorites!!
I don't really have my own special secret grilling marinade so here are the products I use....
Pork Chops
I always buy the breakfast chops because they are thin. Chris prefers the big, fat juicy ones but I do all the grocery shopping so I buy the thin ones. Anyways all I do is trim the fat and slip them into a ziplock and drizzle some Dale's Steak Seasoning in the bag.
I let it sit in the fridge overnight, a few hours or thirty minutes if I forgot. Ha! If you are using thin pork chops it does not matter how long they marinade because it all gets soaked in quickly. Also I try to buy the Reduced Sodium Dale's because there is a TON of salt in this seasoning.
Grill until cooked and Voila = Dinner!

Potatoes
I peel, wash and cut up a baked potatoe into small chunks. I then place the pieces into aluminum foil. Add a tablespoon (or 2 haha) of butter and dash some of this goodness over the potatoes....
Tony Chachere seasoning (you can use this on almost everything) It's kind of spicey so use it according to your liking.
I close up the aluminum foil and place on the top rack of the grill for about 30 minutes. I open them up to test the texture after 20 minutes.
I like when they burn just a little sometimes. Yummy!
Have a GREAT weekend!!!!
Love
Shelli

Hometown

Today over at Kelly's Show us Your Life it's about Hometowns!

My Hometown is Louisville, KY.

Technically I still live here but my address shows a different city! Being 7 miles from the city line I still claim my town to be Louisville because that's where my heart is!
When I was younger I wanted to move as far away as possible from Louisville, KY. Now I can't imagine living anywhere else!
Louisville is nestled on the Ohio River. There is a beautiful water front park where you can go to walk your dog or play frisbee. Our downtown is very clean and has alot of Louisville original restautants and art galleries. I could not mention my hometown without mentioning that we are the home of the Louisville Slugger Bat! I'm sure you've heard of those right? Well if you go on a tour of the factory you get a minature replica at the end of the tour. FYI- you can't take those on the flight back home - pack them in your check in luggage.

Another great and FAMOUS thing about Louisville is the Kentucky Derby! Louisville has a two week festival leading up to the fastest 2 minutes in sports! The festival begins on the river with "Thunder over Louisville" - the largest firework show in America and ends with the race!

And of course I love Louisville because of my favorite college sports team and Undergraduate Alma Mater the University of Louisville. :)
Hope you enjoyed seeing my hometown - come visit me soon and I will take you to my favorite BBQ restaurant - where we will drink sweet tea of course!

Children's Books

Kelly's Show Us Your Life is about children/kid's books this week. I have not participated in this before but this one was a MUST! I just loved books growing up. I am so excited to start my future kiddo's book collection. There will be tons of the books I loved as a wee one in that collection.
Here were some of my favorites that I can remember!

Amelia Bedelia was always getting into crazy situations and I just loved when my mom read her books to me!
Little Golden Books - We had like 50 of these around the house and I just loved them! My favorite of course was Cinderella! :)
Precious Moments - I still have my first bible which was obviously Precious Moments! I loved it because it had pictures ;0) I had a few figurines also.
I saw an anthology of Madeline books at Pottery Barn the other day!!! If this baby is a little lady I have no choice but to get it off Amazon! Ahhh memories! I just love thinking about my childhood. So much imagination and fun! This is why I look forward to being a parent so I can relive all the childhood things through our kiddos. An excuse to act like a kid again!
