Pinterest Engineer Print

My home is in desperate need of some wall candy. Ever since I saw this Pin (and read the accompanying blog post) on Pinterest I have wanted to try this!
This was a super easy project. I would change a few things next time, and yes… there will be a next time! I love a BIG black and white photo for under $10.
1. I took some cute pictures of the ever so adorable Ms. Kendall
2. I picked out a picture and told Office Depot to print me a 20x30 inch engineer print for under $6.
3. I purchased a foam board via the Dollar Tree. $1 (I will buy a black foam board next time or maybe I will try this on wood like I have seen on Pinterest also)
4. Materials (I already had glue sticks)


5. I slowly glued and laid the picture onto the foam board. I used a few large text books to weight it down after I glued. Next time, I might invest in the $15 spray adhesive because there are a few spots you can see up close that aren’t perfect. Or I will go slower with my glue stick… I kind of whipped this together in 10 minutes.

6. This is when my real creative juices started flowing. Ha! I don’t remember what the original post person did but I used paper clips and duct tape.

And… the final product…. Well it is still not on the wall. Go figure. I keep waiting on the husband to do it but I might need to tackle this one. But I did pick out where I want to hang it. That counts right?

There you have it! Another Pin actually happened. Sort of. Oh well!

DIY No Sew Lace Trimmed Easter Basket

Hey there! I wanted to share this cute little Easter basket I whipped up for Kendall during an episode of Mickey Mouse clubhouse.

Here it is… it’s not perfect but I love it because it was FREE!!

Lately I have been finding really creative and crafty uses for things I already own. I made curtains for Kendall’s playroom out of a table cloth here,  I made kitchen curtains out of a shower curtain here and a bow holder for Kendall’s room out of a poster board here.

I have been looking for an Easter basket for Kendall that was lined with fabric and under $20 bucks… apparently those don’t exist. Plus it’s hard for me to spend $20 on something that holds goodies when I’d rather spend that money on the goodies.

So I grabbed a little basket I bought clearance at Wal-mart forever ago and grabbed this skirt from the Minnie Mouse costume I wore at Kendall’s first birthday party.

This one I will never wear again… haha

 

These items along with Kendall, scissors and a hot glue gun are all you need! 

I chose this little skirt because I loved the eyelet trimmed lace on the ends.

First I cut off the tag and elastic waist band.

Then I cut enough to cover half the inside and lace to both handles.

And I hot glued it to top top of the basket so the lace hung over perfectly.

This is where things went downhill. I wasn’t really sure how to make the liner look nice.

I cut off the extra and folded and hot glued until it was flat to the basket.

I ended up gluing another piece of material so it wouldn’t look terrible. It still looks terrible but who cares… the liner is not the focal point, right?

I tied the left over lace at the handles and VOILA!

Kendall has an Easter basket!

DIY No Sew Fabric Bow Holder Tutorial

Kendall’s bow collection is a mess these days! My current bow holder is too small and most of her bows are still in plastic bags from our move.

I have the perfect bow holder pictured in my crazy brain and have been unable to find it anywhere. So I decided to whip one up with materials I already had. Resourceful, eh?

So here is my little tutorial.

Items needs for this project….

1 piece of thick poster board, canvas, cork board… whatever you’d like to use and whatever size you desire

1 piece of fabric to cover board

something to measure

Lots of ribbon – I used two different kinds

1 glue gun

and a toddler and furry cockapoo ;) … to keep you company of course

and BOWS… lots of BOWS

I used this thick cardboard left over from Kendall’s 12 month photo display at her birthday party. Don’t you love those little feet that found their way on the board?

I was going to mix all three fabrics together but decided to keep it simple.

Trim your fabric to a length/width where it will wrap to the back of your board on all sides.

Do the same with your ribbon. I gave myself 2 inches extra length for the ribbon.

Lay the board backwards on the fabric so you can hot glue.

Like so.

This is when the measuring comes in unless you have a good eye. I just wanted my ribbon to be equally far apart.

Hot glue the ribbon on the back of your board.

 

I didn’t have as much black ribbon left to hang the holder as I would’ve liked. You could mount this board several ways depending on what type of board you use.

Here is my finished bow holder! Ta-da!

Clip bows on the ribbon and you’re done! It’s like BOW art now. Love.

Project Playroom: Curtains & Tutorial

Before we moved into our house I knew the playroom would be my favorite room to decorate. I have so many ideas and Pinterest isn’t helping those ideas multiply by any means.

At first I wanted to make this room gender neutral. You know in case we decide to have another baby and it’s a boy. So I painted the room a bright yellow. The paint color was actually called “Bright Laughter”! So fitting for a playroom, huh?

Then… I realized every toy in the room was already PINK so I should GIRL it up for Kendall. Why Be all “gender neutral” when Kendall deserves a fun girly color scheme for the playroom where she will spend hours having so much fun???

The first few days we lived in our home I threw up this tablecloth for a little privacy. I was so classy using painters tape, no?

 

After my tablecloth failed and fell down every day I decided I needed to get a move on getting something permanent on the windows. However, these windows are kind of difficult. It’s a bay window with not a lot of spacing between the window molding. Hence… no room for a curtain rod unless you want to drill it in the molding.

So I decided I would use tension rods for the window that way if I change me mind later it’s no big deal. The tablecloth started growing on me too and I knew my mom had one just like it. She agreed to let me have hers so I could make curtains. Thanks Mom!!! xoxo

Chris had placed my sewing machine box in the foyer Saturday so when I woke up Sunday I just felt like going with it! By 1:30pm I had curtains in the playroom.

Here’s what I did:

I measured the windows and wrote down my plans.

Laid the tablecloth in the biggest open spot of our floor. That didn’t work for 2 reasons: Kendall & Wilson. :)

I cut 4 different size panels. 

I hemmed the sides that were cut. Great thing about using tablecloths is some sides are already hemmed.

I hemmed the top for the curtain rod to go.

Meanwhile the husband ran to wally world and purchased tension rods for $9 total.

And voila!

   

I have plans to embellish the curtains with some ruffles but I will save that for another weekend! Next up is to make/find some toy storage solutions, table/chairs and wall decor! I want to build a window seat/toy storage combo bench but the hubs said to wait another month before I assign him another home project. Sigh.

Somebody’s happy about her new curtains!

Not bad for a $9 project!!!
