Adley's Nursery Reveal

If you follow me on instagram (mrsryan555) then you will know the nursery does not currently look this clean. We got all kinds of baby gear out from the garage and it is a disaster area. I will be working on organizing everything I need to have a baby this week. :)

So here is a glimpse into Adley's room. Kendall and I love spending time in this room and it has been fun planning a nursery again. Like my friend Sara said, I will spend all this time getting the room ready only for her to sleep in my room. Hopefully not 8 months like with Kendall. Honestly, who cares? Babies don't keep!

The BIG Nursery Reveal!!!!

You've waited long enough and with only 52 days until Ms. Kendall's estimated due date (Oct. 25) I finally took some pictures of her completed nursery. This is by far my favorite room in the house. I love going in there to play with her outfits or just to sit and daydream about my baby girl. It was so much fun picking everything out for the nursery and I feel like it turned out exactly how I wanted!!! All I need now is my precious baby to occupy this room!

Door view of the nursery
Crib view with paper lanterns and vinyl monogram
This was so easy to apply to the wall and I think it turned out so beautiful!

Dresser/Changer with dainty dresses on the wall - I love the idea of having clothes hanging up... I plan on switching the outfits out as she grows!
These dresses were a steal at Target!! They are 12 mos. so I doubt I will switch them out anytime soon!
Mommy's feeding station ( ignore the chair cover that desperately needs to be steamed!) I added the little table for items I will need while I'm nursing - like a drink, cell phone charger etc.
Pictures that loaded sideways on blogger for some reason. Everyone tilt their heads to look!
Growth Chart I found at Hobby Lobby and added Kendall's bows... I like seeing all her bows at one time!
Other view of the Nursery. I plan on finding a cute hamper for behind the door!

Kendall's closet! This closet wreaks of DREFT and I love it! I love all her things!
Stocked and ready to go Changer! Those drawers are jam packed with onesie, sleepers, gowns, blankets and bibs! All freshly washed!
There are still a few items I may add (rug, new light fixture) but I am in no hurry! I've got 52 days remember??? I have a feeling it will go by very quickly!
Hope you enjoyed my nursery and have a GREAT Labor Day weekend!

Giveaways, Nursery Shopping & New Mom Advice

Over the past few weeks I have been the lucky winner of some giveaways!!!!! All of which I have received in the last few days. I won this adorable headband from Lillypie Accessories and these cute iron on transfers from Sticky Bellies!!!!
I can't wait to put this headband on her cute little head and take her growth picture every month with the sticky bellies!!!!
I couldn't resist taking a photo of Wilson yesterday... he's like " Why don't I get anything in the mail?????"
Yesterday after work I finished up my nursery decor shopping. I hit up Hobby Lobby and a few other stores and got (what I think) is all I need to finish my nursery decor ideas. Hopefully over the next few weeks we will get it all decorated and then I can REVEAL Ms. Kendall's finished room!
I have been reading alot of message boards on Babycenter recently about surviving the first few days home with a newborn and I would love to get more advice!!!! Here is some of the advice I liked!!
1. Ban visitors for the first few days at home(except my mom of course)
2. Sleep when the baby sleeps - focus on building routine with baby
3. When visitors come over and ask if you need anything - give them an answer! Take the trash out, unload the dishwasher, pick up a loaf of bread, dinner etc.... people want to help!
4. Realize that you will be in your PJ's most of the time, unshowered, with your breasts out in the open! Ha!
5. Paper plates, plastic silverware and takeout!!!!
Any moms want to add to the list for me???? I love hearing advice from seasoned moms!!!!

Baby Clothes Galore

I'm not sure you will be able to handle this amount of cuteness...
I present to you Ms. Adelyn! (& Uncle Steve) This is like the only picture I took from this past weekend visiting family.
I mentioned yesterday that Adelyn's gracious mom, my cousin Leigh gave me a whole bunch of baby girl clothes. My mom and sister came over to help me go through them all.
Here is what Kendall's room looked like after they left.
Family Bassinet - Ms. Kendall will sleep in right next to our bed.
Her semi organized closet.
The cute (& clearanced) pink vacumn cleaner I just had to buy!
Her organized dresser - bibs, 0-3 month onesies, sleepers and bodysuits! You think the girl has enough clothes? I'm so blessed to have family that likes to hand things down and so blessed to have a mom & sister who are addicted to shopping for Kendall.
Love you all!!
P.S. - I promise her room is back to normal now. ;)

Update on Project Nursery

Top of the morning to you!!! Last night I took a whole bunch of photos of the nursery and things around the house so I could have lots of things to write about this week!!
Here are some of the posts you can look forward to this week...
Update on Project Nursery (today!)
Living Room Tour
Anniversary trip pictures... finally
Shopping for Kendall
To your left is a lovely picture of me this morning
at work - LOL!
Update : Project Nursery
I just love Kendall's nursery! It has been a blast picking out things and finding items that match the decor. I'm waiting until we have our showers before I finish it completly but it all feels like it's coming together so GREAT!!
After getting home from work Chris & I worked on the nursery some more... we hung Kendall's curtains and a few canvas prints I had purchased. Changing Table/Dresser Other view of room (please excuse paint junk behind the door!)
Closeup of bedding with the cute Marshall's pillow that matches PERFECTLY - that will go on my my chair for feedings!
2 more cute Marshall finds - a pink picture frame and white side table
I'm thinking I will put a lamp on this table maybe? for late night feedings?
Another Marshall's find (loved that store that day!)
How cute is this matching ottoman?

I have a few more projects that need to go on the walls but I will probably add these last minute because they will need to be centered over the crib and changing table and I'm sure I will rearrange the furniture a million times before she is here!!

Left - The monogram that will be centered right above her crib.

Right - I'm going to repaint this picture frame that once hung in our guest bathroom and place it centered above her changing table. I thought I could put pictures of Chris & I during the pregnancy and then put her 1st picture in the middle when she arrives!

Closeup of frame = Throwback photos of our life :)
I purchased the vinyl monogram from OpenHeartsCreations on Etsy - she was wonderful to work with and sent me a few extra K's & Kendall's. I plan on adding a K to Kendall's nursery door. There are still a few things to be purchased but I feel confident that we have accomplished alot already!
Here is my list of things we still need for the nursery.
1. New light fixture - probably going to be a ceiling fan
2. Big rug for the floor for added color and so she can play with her toys there
3. A chair for momma - not sure if I want a glider, rocking chair or something stationary for those late night feedings!
4. Some kind of additional lighting - like a floor lamp or small lamp for the late night feedings!
5. A mobile type deal to go above the crib - I'm thinking something like this...

What do you think of our nursery so far??? Do you like? Is there anything you veteran mom's think is essential to a nursery that we are missing or should make sure we add? Let me know what you think!!

It's getting hot in here...

...so take off all your clothes... okay don't really! It's just a song! But it is HOT outside!
It's also one more day until Friday - woohoo!!! Last night was a relaxing evening. I left work and headed to my parents to help my mom and sister with the baby shower invitations. It seriously took me 30 minutes to figure out how to mail merge mailing labels... then I realized there was a wizard! I just love step by step wizards. Ha!
I came home and grilled some steaks for dinner. I love how Chris comes home while I'm cooking and immediately tends to the steaks. It's a guy thing - if the grill is in operation he MUST oversee the grilling. LOL
Becca came over for a bit and I showed her all of Kendall's things I've purchased for her room and wardrobe. I just love showing her things off and I can't wait to show HER off!!! While Becca was there Chris completed the construction of the crib. He is such a great Daddy already! Love you honey! He doesn't know it yet but tonight he will be hanging curtains... mwhahaha
Here is a sneak peak of the crib/bedding/nursery. It's bad night lighting/iphone photography but it's enough to keep you anxious for the finished product. Note that I think I put the bumper on wrong haha - is the opening supposed to go in the corner???
After we put the bedding on we realized there is alot more space in the room than we thought. I guess I figured the crib was going to be enormous and take up all this space.
Here is the current floorplan.
Now I need your designing expertise.
Do you have any suggestions on how we could utilize the space better? We plan on adding a rocking chair but should we add something else like a book shelf?

I'm a Winner!

I love Tuesdays! GLEE comes on Tuesday nights! Yay! I did not mention this one in my tv shows to watch post but you should seriously be watching it!!!
I won 2 Giveaways this week. I won the $20 Target giftcard giveaway from Karen at Home and the Attune Chocolate bar giveaway from Watch my Butt Shrink! Yay! This was like my first time signing up for giveaways and I won! I need to sign up more often.
Thank you Karen and Jenn for hosting the giveaways - I can't wait to receive my goodies! I have already decided the Target giftcard will go in the baby fund and the chocolate bars... well those will go in my tummy! ;)

Speaking of Target - I was browsing baby stuff again and I found 2 bedding sets I like.
It's funny because ever since our appointment yesterday when the Dr. guessed we were having a boy - I pretty much think I have a little Grayson in my belly. 27 more days until we know for sure!

Cinco de Mayo & Nursery Ideas

Happy Cinco de Mayo! If you celebrate this day - HAVE FUN!

So all I think about these days is anything and everything baby related...
I have started to imagine how I will do a nursery for our little son or daughter. I need to start saving my ideas on here for when we find out! I'm so anxious to get started planning the nursery. Well not that anxious considering our spare bedrooms are a MESS right now.
I figure I have a solid month before I will start on the nursery anyway so I have a whole month to get things organized.

I guess I will go a head and let you all know the top 2 names we like so that will make this easier! BoY: Grayson Van Ryan
GiRl: Kendall Grace Ryan
You like?????? I love them! :)

Here are my general feelings about the nursery for either gender.

  • I don't want a "theme" (matching decor, bedding rug etc of a disney character)
  • I want it to be a classy and timeless but still have all of the things boys and girls love
  • I want a regular dresser with a changing pad on top - it's more functional because they can use it when they are out of diapers plus we are limited in space to have both a dresser and a changing table
  • I will most likely go with a dark cherry finish or black espresso finish for the crib and dresser/changer ( I haven't ruled out white furniture if it's a girl!)
If our Baby is a Kendall:
I like very dainty and feminine color combos for a girls' nursery. I have envisioned painting the room a powder pink with a powder blue ceiling.
I love the idea of having a chandelier in the room. I would have a cute lamp to add additional lighting for late night feedings!
I'm still searching for the perfect girl bedding. I like white, pink, powder blue and light green for colors and I love the shabby chic bedding designs. Or this.
And of course every little girl's room needs a princess and castle wall mural!!!!

If our Baby is a Grayson:
I really like strong bold colors for a boy's nursery. I want to include all things little boy in this room - including baseball of course! I will probably paint the room a neutral beige color (like it already is!) and add an accent color wall.
I like this plaid bedding (or something similar). I think the colors are very masculine and could easily be matched with other blankets and stuffed animals. It also is plain enough to go with all the little boy things I want to include!!!!

I like these air plane decals because they are so cute and I could just imagine a little baby boy looking at them while playing in his crib. I might even pair them with a fun plan/truck/tractor type of mobile!!!
I love vintage baseball prints and I definitely will have one hanging somewhere in the nursery!
What do you think of my baby names and nursery ideas?????

Are my ideas too "grown up" for a baby?
