Our Weekend & Yummy Potato Recipe!!!

Friday
I have been looking forward to this semi annual consignment all year and found some great things to add to Kendall’s spring/summer wardrobe. I was a little disappointed in this sale compared to the fall sale but I also went on restock day last time.

I love this girl’s blog… she seriously has the BEST and EASIEST hairstyle tutorials. I tried her fishtail side ponytail on Saturday. Ha!

I thought this picture was so funny. Kendall (rocking some Christmas pjs) was just sitting on the edge of the couch watch Mickey like a big girl. Love her hands on her knees. She wasn’t into me taking a picture so early! Ha!

Sunday we enjoyed hanging around our yard enjoying the beautiful weather.

We even took a few rides around the property on our 4 wheeler. DSC_0429

Kendall loves picking up dandelions in the yard. When we are outside we stop at everyone and pluck it out of the grass.

Happy Leap Day!

Since 2-29 rolls around once every 4 years I figured I had to make a blog post to remember today. Plus Kendall will be 5 on the next Leap day and I will be… let’s just say I won’t be a twenty something on the next 2-29.

Our leap day began with a bunch of scary tornado warnings but we’ve had a beautiful weather otherwise.

This afternoon Chris noticed our neighbor’s horse was playing in the water near our backyard. So he jumped to go show Kendall. I had 7 minutes left on the oven for our dinner so I followed quickly to snap a few pictures.

Kendall kept waving and saying “Hi There”. She’s so friendly and loves animals.

This is one of the many reasons I love our new house and big yard and horse neighbor. :)

How did you spend 2-29?

Your First Room

I took these pictures during our packing process so they are really messy. Honestly, your room looked like this most days. We like to play with all your toys and leave them out everywhere. It’s more fun that way. Ha!

I wanted to take these pictures so you and I would remember the details of the room you loved so much and called your own. :)DSC_0823 DSC_0824 DSC_0826 DSC_0827 DSC_0828 DSC_0829 DSC_0830 DSC_0831 DSC_0832 DSC_0833 DSC_0834 DSC_0836 DSC_0837 It will be so much fun decorating your new room at our new house. It will look oddly familiar because I’m using the same paint color and decor. I know you will love your new room so much!

Today we move out...

I'm going to try really hard not to cry as I type this. We are closing on our house today at 330pm.

This is the home we purchased to live in as newlyweds and start our lives together. This is the only home Wilson has ever known. This is the house I brought my baby girl home from the hospital to. The same house with the nursery I love so much.
I'm sure there will be tears as we pull away for the last time. I know we can go visit and drive by the house but it's not the same. We will no longer live there.

::tears::

I'm so thankful for this house. I'm so thankful we were blessed with a home and able to have so many precious memories made. I'm so thankful for our next house adventure and all of the memories we will make there as well.

I will miss our neighborhood and neighbors and the community we have made ours. I will also miss the Sego's, our very favorite friends and neighbors! We will still visit... I mean our hairstylist, pediatrician, dentist and vet are all here...

I'm so afraid Kendall will miss her house. I know she is one and will adapt accordingly and she will love our NEW house so much! I just always love how happy she is when she is in HER home.

::more tears::

I couldn't be happier about selling our house. My cousin and his wife are purchasing our home and it's their first home. I know they will make so many memories in that house and love it just as much as we have. It makes me feel better about leaving our house knowing it's in great hands.

I pray that the transition for our family over the next few weeks goes smoothly. We are temporarily moving in with my parents (right across the street from our new house) until HUD gives us the approval to close. I'm really hoping this is before Christmas since our loan is good to go and we are just waiting on a lead base paint test. Then we will hit the ground running making our new house our own.

Exciting things are ahead for us! I will try to blog as much as possible to keep you posted!

Bathroom Updates!

So I’ve been all anti-home decor these days because a) Kendall and b) my hubby needs to be involved and he’s super busy until graduation. However when I come across a small bargain to help me spruce up a room I can’t resist.
Last night I was at Target (where else?) with Kendall and my sister and I found two cute items marked down along with several clearanced V-day things!

I decided the shower curtain would go in our bathroom and the little bath tins would go in Kendall’s.

I will get a new rug for this room… maybe something plain and slate grey? I’d like the husband to paint (maybe tile the floor?) this room too!
Here is a picture of Kendall’s bathroom now.

Her baby bath is sitting in the tub and all my makeup is on the vanity. I want to keep with the floral theme but dress it up a little bit more. Ideas?
I may just use my $1.24 french tins to house her bath soaps and accessories somehow.
I also love how I did all this in the matter of time it takes for Kendall's little lamb seat to play music and now it’s like I have a new bathroom!

Mole Monday

Today was my last day of maternity leave. It’s bittersweet. I’m happy to be going back to work since I love my job but sad that I will not get that time to spend with Kendall. This week she will go with me to work most of the time since everyone in the office is working out of town anyway. I guess that’s why I’m not boohooing right now.

When I do go to work with out my baby girl in tow I am content with knowing she will be in excellent care with my mom. Also I have some exciting things/opportunities we’ve been talking about with my job that may be exactly what our family needs. I won’t go into details now but I will keep you posted!

Anyways… Kendall and I spent the morning cuddling and playing. Chris and I tackled some home projects too.

My mom gave me this picture that didn’t work out in her guest bedroom. It matched our color scheme perfectly. I still think it looks too small but it’s better than a blank wall that’s for sure.January 2011 007

Finally a shelf in our laundry room! Like my little laundry sign? Ha!

I had made an appointment with my dermatologist for a mole map. I have some new places on my body thanks to pregnancy and figured I’d get them checked out since I’m so fair skinned. It was a joke! He just asked me what places I was concerned about, looked at them, said it was fine and to stay out of the sun. Thanks Doc, I could’ve had Chris do that.

I came home and decided to try a new recipe from this cookbook my mom gave me.

 January 2011 004

I didn’t have ranch mix so I just used salt and pepper.

January 2011 003

They turned out really yummy!

January 2011 010

I paired it with Chili. The cookbook has different pita chip recipes I may try in the future. I’m going to try and make one new recipe a week. So consider this week #1 of my 2011 recipe challenge.

Now I have to get back to my sweet little family… night!

Consignment Sale = FAIL & Adventures in Nesting

Happy Friday! It's a wet one but perfect weather for the crumminess I feel. Not trying to be a complaining prego lady I just feel sluggish and achy today. I haven't even put my makeup on and I might not at all today! Ha!

So... I left work early yesterday and hit up the bank & Target with my mom. Then we ventured to Indiana to get my oil changed (finally) and visit (another) Target and Kirklands. Then it was time to go check out the consignment Pre sale I registered for and told you about yesterday.
FAIL! It was a glorified yard sale. Nothing against Indiana but I heard the one in Louisville was bigger and really nice. If we were looking for baby/kids clothes we probably would have made out okay but we were hoping to find some big items.... pack n play & high chair for mom's house. They had nothing like that! I did find 2 Bumbo seats (mom wants one) but they looked so gross. Seriously if you're trying to sell your things wouldn't you give them a little TLC??? We walked around for a grand 10 minutes and walked right out the door a little disappointed.
Then we went and ate dinner at Cheddars and hit up Macy's! Although the consignment sale was a disappointment my mom did hook me up with some nursing goodies on sale at Target. She is the best! Invitations for my second baby shower went out too... so yesterday ended up pretty great!
So I have been hardcore nesting... like walking around with a hand vac is normal now. *** Side note - my dog who is getting his hair cut tomm. has been shedding and this is so unlike him - I hope it's just his winter coat getting thick and nothing else because I seriously cannot stand this hair which is why I carry around a hand vac****
Anyhow... backtracking... on Monday (memorial day) while the hubs was working on the deck I decided I would take up my long, lost hobby - sewing. This lasted 3 hours with no finished products except this new tablecloth. I had this thick material on hand and cut it to match my table - didn't even use the sewing machine for this project. Notice my freshly cut knockout roses in the small vase on the table also... I am so becoming my mother!I did manage to make some throw pillows for our bed. This is the current look of our bedding right now... and I had the sudden urge to change it and give it more warmth for fall/winter. So I thought I'd switch out the throw pillows, euro shams and coverlet with some warmer fabrics like the blue/green combo in said throw pillows.
BUT THEN... I was reading my latest issue of All You magazine and there was this whole 3 page spread about PINK ACCENTS!!!! So I have tossed the whole changing the bedding idea and I'm now thinking I need to switch up the room with new curtains and wall art for over our bed and KEEP the PINK! I would eventually like to paint this room too... I'm over the brown blah!!! All in time - my husband's honey do list is already crammed so I may look into redoing the master bedroom after some other things get accomplished... summer 2011 project anyone?
This nesting (a.k.a. wanting to change everything about the house before the baby comes) is exhausting!!!!!

The BIG Nursery Reveal!!!!

You've waited long enough and with only 52 days until Ms. Kendall's estimated due date (Oct. 25) I finally took some pictures of her completed nursery. This is by far my favorite room in the house. I love going in there to play with her outfits or just to sit and daydream about my baby girl. It was so much fun picking everything out for the nursery and I feel like it turned out exactly how I wanted!!! All I need now is my precious baby to occupy this room!

Door view of the nursery
Crib view with paper lanterns and vinyl monogram
This was so easy to apply to the wall and I think it turned out so beautiful!

Dresser/Changer with dainty dresses on the wall - I love the idea of having clothes hanging up... I plan on switching the outfits out as she grows!
These dresses were a steal at Target!! They are 12 mos. so I doubt I will switch them out anytime soon!
Mommy's feeding station ( ignore the chair cover that desperately needs to be steamed!) I added the little table for items I will need while I'm nursing - like a drink, cell phone charger etc.
Pictures that loaded sideways on blogger for some reason. Everyone tilt their heads to look!
Growth Chart I found at Hobby Lobby and added Kendall's bows... I like seeing all her bows at one time!
Other view of the Nursery. I plan on finding a cute hamper for behind the door!

Kendall's closet! This closet wreaks of DREFT and I love it! I love all her things!
Stocked and ready to go Changer! Those drawers are jam packed with onesie, sleepers, gowns, blankets and bibs! All freshly washed!
There are still a few items I may add (rug, new light fixture) but I am in no hurry! I've got 52 days remember??? I have a feeling it will go by very quickly!
Hope you enjoyed my nursery and have a GREAT Labor Day weekend!
